The AS International Music Festival is a saxophone-themed event addressing a wide audience, amateurs and professionals alike, with a vision of becoming the central event of its type in this part of Europe. It is duly named after Belgian instrument inventor Adolphe Sax, whose most famous invention is the SAXOPHONE itself.

Five Universities have the opportunity to nominate two of their best students to be part of this great experience. The ethos of this project is to give music students the exciting prospect of expanding their network, going on tour and presenting themselves as a musician and as a composer/arranger. Rooted in the various traditions of its members, but notoriously modern, this Duo's music follows its own subtle rhythm; It is episodic, full of little pleasures of exploration that mirrors the modus operandi of these two great instrumentalists. The Austrian guitarist Wolfgang Muthspiel was previously known for his work with smaller bands, such as his highly praised quintet. Now the son of a family of musicians from Styria is making a big splash: his 16-member Large Ensemble consists of a rhythm section, strings and brass section, conducted by Argentine big band leader and jazz musician Guillermo Klein.
