Argüelles is a gifted artist currently in his sophisticated prime.”

— John Fordham, The Guardian

From his beginnings in the 1980s with the legendary UK big band Loose Tubes, through his worldwide collaborations, to his own  projects, award winning Saxophonist and composer Julian Argüelles has always spoken with a unique voice and offers a mix of exciting British contemporary jazz infused with Spanish rhythms, South African grooves, brass band and classical influences.

Julian Argüelles Quartet features the best of the UK's younger jazz generation, currently with pianist Ivo Neame and drummer James Maddren, producing music that is “...rich and melodic, sometimes complex but always engaging...” The Jazzmann.   "The guys  in my quartet really push me musically. You can throw anything at them and they can handle it. I've always pushed myself in my writing and in my playing. These musicians definitely inspire me." says Argüelles, who plans to record a third CD with his quartet for release in 2020.
