Tonight Julian is featured soloist and director of Birmingham Conservatoire Jazz Orchestra and graduating students' small bands. The evening will feature a selection of Argüelles’s arrangements of mainly Blue Notes material emanating from the influential group of South African musicians who left the Apartheidaddled South Africa of the 1960s to express themselves freely and live more normal lives in Europe including; Dudu Pukwana, Mongezi Feza, Chris McGregor, Abdullah Ibrahim, Johnny Dyan and Miriam Makeba.
